Ok so Im off on holidays next week and Im sooooooooooooooooooo excited!! VEGAS BABY!!!
In preparation I just raided my under the bed summer drawer and now Im in a bit of a panic!!
Where have all the cute summer dresses, denim shorts and cute bikinis I thought I had!??
Oh wait...I didnt go away last year!! UH OH!!!
In a last desperate, fingers crossed and squinting eye resort I slowly while chewing my bottom lip checked how much money I could afford to revamp my summer wardrobe from non-existant to super amazing! Well needless to say the cash flow is not great but Im also not the type of person to walk around Vegas in something that will catch peoples attention for all the wrong reason.
I sat down after this shock to the system and wrote a list of 5 items I simply wont be able to live without this summer! What do I actually need? Then I decided to post this list for people to see! Why is it important for the world to know my shopping list you might ask?....IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!...By posting this it means that in some part of my mind conscious or unconscious it will hopefully stop me from going completely crazy when I hit the shops, buying clothes like a crazy cat lady in a pet store! :P As I will be posting what I get after my shopping trip on Wednesday, I am really hoping that I will not have to admit that after all my lecturing even I could not take my own advise! I also hope that this list will benefit some of my other friends who wont be updating their full wardrobe this summer but need help knowing what the essentials to this season are!!.....So here it goes!!.......

Essential item 1.
Denim shorts...perfect for dressing up and down. I chose these ones from the new Pixie Lott collection at lipsy as they have a beautiful sequin detail on the pocket.
Essential Item 2.
A straw visor. Call me crazy but I have seen a few glimpses of these in the past few weeks and I think they are adorable!! This one is from oasis and it is one thing that I certainly need! Its only 15euro as well!...perhaps that means I can add a sixth item to my list? OH BEHAVE!
Essential 3.
With my already slightly obsessive feeling toward harem pants I think a summer suitable pair would work their way into my wardrobe quite nicely! I tried on a pair a few weeks back in RiverIsland and have been having day dreams about them ever since. Although at first they looked a little scary all out there and intimidating on the hanger I couldnt help taking them to the fitting room. They are soooo comfortable and can be easily worn for day or night time occasions! Face your fear girls...they are defo the way forward!....and SWOOOOOON!
Essential 4.
CAGED HEELS! So casual, so sleek, so gladiator yet so much more sophisticated...need I saw more...love these ones from aldo!...this seasons summer heels are ditching last years built in platform for this thinner style sole. Comfort in the higher styles may be an issue for some...but Im not one to put comfort before beauty!Essential 5!
The final piece...a difficult choice seen as I want everything!! But I think I need the perfect Vegas dress most of all! This was the hardest thing to choose, as it will have to leave me looking...well perfect :P...I WISH!! After much browsing and severe nail biting I decided on this! The perfect LBD with a Vegas twist that just ruffles my feather....!!OKKKKK.....

Soooo! I can imagine your faces now! You may be thinking something along the lines of "how are any of these summer essentials?". They are not! But you don't need me to tell you wedges are comfortable and go with everything and a cute floral dress will suit you for a day that has multiple dress codes. I like to explore the unusual and the different...but sure all of you who know me already know that!

How skinny is toooo skinny!!

Its been a while but after a fun filled shopping day in Dundrum I felt the boys needed a bit of extra loving care!! Unfortunatly my day of shopping was not for me :(. But I did get an insider look into mens fashion and what exactly is available for those gents who want to shake things up a notch!! So I had my male manacan, ready to buy, and most importantly ready to listen!!
Jeans were first on the list...
Now I get the whole skinny jean emo trend going on, but unless your tall and extremely thin guys...your more than likely NOT Russel Brand! I personally prefer the slim fit jeans...Long streamline leg, slightly looser around the thighs, and generally because they are designed to be worn long, they push up around the ankle making the illusion of them not being tooo small!!! So opting away...FAR AWAY...from the "spray on skinny" jeans at topman, we found ourselves in Urban Outfitters, very happy with their range of stock!! My favourite being a pair of "Nudie Thin Finn Super Used Grey Jean". They have plenty of ranges, but the fit is what I liked. Waaay more flattering guys! Please trust me!

We stayed away from the check shirt look as well. I get that its "the look" most guys are trying to achieve at the moment. But just because you walk into a shop and are surrounded by red, green, blue, black checks....don't think its your only option!! Perhaps don't make it an option at all! ;)
Lyle and Scott do a great range of fitted Polo t-shirts for men and their cardigans and knits are always flattering and stylish! Leather jackets if fitted properly can be a great alternative too!
Genius do a great range, and although expensive good quality leather will literally last you forever!!
So don't be afraid to look past the racks of clothes that shops like to tell you to wear and mix and match, creating a style that suits you! Nobody wants to see a forty year old man in a pair of jeans that are too small and a badly made check shirt, believe me!!

My newest obsession is military boots on guys!! DON'T pair these with loose or skinny jeans! They look best with "twist" jeans. Twist jeans literally have a twist in the seam giving a slight bow shape to the leg. This are available in most jean shops now including G Star and Topman. They look so awesome with military boots and a casual top. Im thinking long sleaved fitted t-shirt, and maybe pair up that leather jacket! Il leave you guys with my favourite look this week!! XxX

Snoods are making an appearance everywhere lately and what a great style idea they are. Ive been reading about them everywhere from Vogue to the Irish Independent and simply..there just pretty cool! With our freezing Irish winters the tendency to over wrap ourselves in layers and layers is hard to resist. While this works well for a walk to the shop or bringing the dog out, we can tend to look bunged up with this unflattering bundle we have wrapped ourselves in! But now we have snoods!! Designed to be worn with day wear, evening dresses, suits and any other ensemble you pull together. To explain what a snood is...its a hybrid between a scarf and a hood. They come in all sorts of material including beautiful silks and furs and some would even make as much of a statement as a beautiful necklace! Blanket like versions are widely available from Missoni and Topshop. In celebrity world Emma Watson and Kate Bosworth have been pushing the trend. This is definitely a trendy affordable way to spice up your winter wardrobe and the snood is so versatile that it can even be introduced to your spring and autumn wardrobes!! Like i like to say....DO IT!! :P xxx

Im back!! I know its been a while since my last post...sorry guys!...College work took over my life there for a short time...but here I am writing again...and theres plenty to discuss!!

Firstly, I have gona a little overboard with the shopping lately...and even got myself a pair of JIMMY CHOO'S in H&M!!! Imagine my disappointment when I turned up in Dundrum and hour after the sale started to find out all the clothes and high shoes had been sold in an hour!! I queued anyway hoping there might be something..ANYTHING left when I finally made it into the small section cornered off for Mr.Choo himself...and mow and behold about half way down the queue I spotted them!!...Jimmy Choo leather brogues!! Now of course like any other shoe fanatic I had my heart set on a towering pair of Choo stillettos but when I saw these flats I just fell in love. Mainly bacause they are soooooo unusual...with there studs, dimonte and snakeskin look...! Weird you might think, but I love anything that stands out and their boyish look have a somewhat flirty feel! The final point that made me pounce and purchase was the price! They cost me 150euro and anybody like me with a weakness for designer shoes will know how this buy was simply irresistible!!

My camera is still broken but I promise to take some pics as soon as i wear them for all to see!!!

My new favourite accessory is something that I feel I have to share...Because as simple as they may sound, gloves are often something that people have a hard time investing alot of money into! Now i'm not saying you need designer hand-warmers but a little sleakness or sparkle is something that may make the difference to a whole outfit! Whether they are sophisticated elbow lengths or just small leather charms...its the little touches to an outfit that make all the difference!! Here are some designs that I especially love, and remember never underestimate the power of accessories!!

The high-waisted skirt is not new to shops this year and has been very popular in the last few months. But as a recent revelation it is now being teamed with mesh tights, colourful socks, vintage looking tops and big jewelery that cant fail to catch the eye. Dressing around key pieces in your wardrobe to create different looks can be great fun. I like my clothes to look extravert and attract attention, but depending how "out-there" you want to look, it is east to draw the line at any point, to make your outfit personal! Heres some of my key favourite looks that combine the high-waisted skirt with other styles!

Play around with the look. You never know...you might just suprise yourself!

We have all seen pictures of Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole walking happily around with six inch killer heels on. Day in day out they pull off this look with seemingly never an ounce of uncomfort. High heels have now become associated with a certain "look". A higher celebrity ground that we all want a piece of. In recent year the heels available have become more casual and can be integrated into both our day and nightwear closet. I love my heels, sure I talk about them enough. I pride myself on my shoes...sad as it might sound! But I have been fortunate enough to build up quite a collection so why not be proud??
My one hate is how people wear them sometimes! Yes guys, it is possible to pull off six inchers during the day. You can make them look casual, but be careful. Nobody wants to look like a tramp :P. I usually team clumpy heels (no diamonds or glitter!!) with wools and cottons. My biggest inspiration for this look is Rumi Neely, who writes the blog "fashion toast". I was reading my normal fashion updates the other day and I found something very exciting...! A new recession busting idea has arrived and goes by the name of 'Covet'. This new boutique that will be opening in Powerscourt Centre Dublin has it all FOR HIRE!! Suzanne Hourican came up with this amazing idea after having to attend multiple weddings last summer and having to buy new outfits for them all. What makes this idea even more amazing is that all the clothes for hire are high-end designer pieces which include the likes of Cavalli and Valentino! Now I guess your getting as hyper as I am! All clothes can be rented for 3days between a cost of 30-300 euro! The store opened last Monday so for any occasions where you need that something special make sure to keep it in mind!!

So wandering through Temple Bar last weekend and a very bright vibrant building catches my attention! Of course it held my stare...it was a clothes shop called Se Si! Amazed I had never been into it before I had a look around and needless to say I was like a child in a sweet shop. This shop sells amazing one of a kind pieces which include tops, dresses, shoes and accessories. The dresses however are what caught my attention the most. All beautifully cut and extremely unusual, amazing patterns, colours and materials. I ended up in the changing room with a rack of clothes and only 50euro to my name...not that it mattered much!..All the dresses were retailed for 45euro each!!! I walked out with a beautiful royal blue design thats material is decorated with music notes, the puffy sleeves and high neck line make this my new favourite Autumn/Winter piece. With 5euro to spare I delved into there large choice of accessories and found a awesome bow hairclip to match for just 3euro!! Guys if you are shopping on a budget and want something that will be beautifully unusual then this is the place to go. The first shop I entered and I had a new outfit, for once my shopping "spree" only lasted twenty minutes! Now I will have to save some more money though so I can go out and show it off!!

So its official thigh-high boots are back and everyone's dying to getting their hands on a pair...or are they?? This trend is ultra daring and not for the faint-hearted! But if you really think about it why do thigh-high boots HAVE to be unflattering? If mixed and matched properly they could be a vital part of any girls wardrobe! Choose a wider leg if your not a stick insect preferably with massive heels to elongate your legs, or if its your thighs that bother you match with a dress that meets the top of the boot or match with a flattering pair of tight trousers. They also come in uber tight material that would be perfect for those girls who do want to show off their shape and like being noticed! Ive found some great pairs already from my little scavanges around the shops and for the flat boot version RiverIsland are amazing! All suede and fringed, they really look totally cool! Contrast to that though my personal favourites are from Topshop!!! I actually think I'll have them bought by the end of the day!! Retailing for 100GBP you cant go wrong!!! love it...

They also specialise in handbags, headpieces, hats, shoes and other accessories! Definitely worth checking out! Ive already got my eyes on a fab pair of knee high boots from there with a metallic wedge heel! And get this...they are on special for just 70euro!! I will be going into them in a few days I'm sure, so I will let you know what other great things they have in store very soon! Xx

Ive heard of shoe clips and have always thought of them as a little crass. The ones I have seen before have looked rather tacky and can make a perfectly nice pair of shoes look cheap. However, I have recently stumbled across ABSOLUTELY AUDREY! They have so many fantastic designs and shoes can be updated in seconds for a much lower price than buying a new pair! The clips themselves are beautiful and expensive looking. Shoe clips can be carried around so they are a great way to spruce up your shoes if you are going straight out from work or another event. The designer and owner of Absolutely Audrey, Crisa Barriball started her business in 2003 and she has proven to be very successful and has shown real talent in this area. Her shoe clips are vintage inspired and a new collection of shoe clips is realeased every season. Unfortunatly these amazing shoe clips are not available all over Ireland, just in a few small retail shops, but they can now be purchased online at www.absolutelyaudrey.com. So ive been looking at all the pictures of Copenhagen fashion week and feeling very sorry for myself that I didnt go to any of the shows! Im loving the modern urban feel to all the collections and the use of materials. Leather made a big appearance but the designers gave it a very feminine feel. Two leather outfits that particurarly stood out to me were from the Noir collection. The arm detailing on the first dress is just so beautiful and the bow on the left shoulder allows it to keep its girlie feel even though the material may say otherwise. The skirt in the second picture is just such a classic look and gives the female body such an amazing shape. I could definatly see this skirt being walked around the streets of Dublin. So easy to wear yet the look it creates makes such an impact.

One designer that really caught my eye was Cheap Monday. I totally fell in love with the whole look that was created. All the outfits had an almost (can I say it?) Scarecrow feel. Totally grungy but well designed. I love the way the outfits were all totally wearable. The collection consisted mainly of patchwork detailed jeans and loose fitted jumpers, plenty of knit wear and black patent platforms.

This post I want to look ahead to future trends for autumn winter 09/10. Only a few months off so to keep up it is essential to have a good idea about what you will be bound to see in shops and on catwalks. Two major statement pieces will be large bold shoulders on tops and coats and statement handbags. After the big fuss the past few months over statement shoes and jewelery the unusual handbags are bound to be huge! I have seen some really amazing designs being flaunted around already and I cant wait to experiment with them myself! Again, next season will be all about sharp cut clothing giving that urban chic feel and ultra-modern look. Chanel have really taken a step forward and they have gone from classic to futuristic with a new line of handbags! Some of the stuff will take a bit of getting used to but granted it is unusual and if wearing one you will be sure to stand out in a crowd!!! The reason I have focused mainly on designer ranges in this post is because this stuff is yet to hit high-street! .... but be patient and the high-street will deliver! I PROMISE!!! :)

I love boys clothes...! Who doesn't like to see a guy who is well groomed and knows how to dress well? All guys can own a pair of chinos and a Ralph Lauren shirt and look good so that "typical" look is what I am trying to avoid in this post! Ive been keeping my eyes peeled recently and find boys clothes so interesting! I just need to find myself a male to bring shopping for a day!
The item which has really caught my eye at the moment (and most guys seem to be scared of) is check blazers!! Oh no I hear you shout! ... but really, I personally think they rock! They are different, and allow a guy to have a bit of flare without going overboard!
On this years Paris fashion week catwalk Junya Watanabe showed a large range of mens check jackets. He really captured that English "squire"/"schoolboy" look and the whole collection looked great! Cheaper alternatives can be found in high street stores which now do amazing "ripoffs" of runway fashion!

Are you festival fit??

Being festival season, the wellies are out and the comfy clothes to match. Although alot of people find it hard to look stylish, casual and comfortable, while preparing for all types of weather and conditions!
Ive been doing some scouting for the perfect festival outfits and heres what ive come up with!!

Ive always found office great for colourful and extreme wellies! I bought mine last year for oxegen but they have a great range this season aswel! I say go with the bright colours!! why not? Personally I prefer the knee high style but they also have a large range in mid-calf length! Check out their multiple styles at www.office.co.uk!! Here are my personal favourites...

WARNING!!! Avoid strappy sandles, canvas style runners, or anything that will allow water in easily!! Wet cold feet could ruin your day!

Next is my favourite festival accessorie!! You may think im mad but i have so much fun picking insane socks to wear under my wellies! I usually avoid trousers or jeans as they can become uncomfortable and even too warm in some of the more packed tents and stage areas! So knee high socks are a necessity!!! River Island, Dunnes stores and pennies all do really wide ranges of socks and tighta and you can have so much fun putting unusual colours and patterns together. Personally I dont match my wellies to my socks as such, I just try to let them look mad and clashing to give that extra festival feel!

As I said above I usually avoid wearing jeans or trousers although if you are planning a camping weekend I would advice packing a pair for the chilly evenings!
Im loving that playsuits are so fashionable at the moment, they make the perfect festival outfit, all in one, no choosing a top to match bottoms...you have it all in one little suit!! This cute little one-piece is from topshop and is so comfortable and easy to wear! Match with a few heavy bangles big sunglasses and off you go! Festival fit!!

My new cheap festival idea is the oversized t-shirt. My last concert was slane and I really wanted something new to wear....I hit pennies with ten euro and no idea what i could pull out of the bag and hey presto i found exactly what I was looking for! I bought a bright pink long tank top....3 sizes too big!!! It hung well so it looked like a dress and i matched it with a pair of bright pink aviator style sunglasses. Both items came to my budget of 10euro!!
I wore the outfit with my recent purchase of my beloved jeggings and my babysham runners!!
So money is no excuse not to look funky and fresh this festival season!! Good Luck!!!

EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just found out that Jimmy Choo is doing a range for H&M to be hitting stores on 14th November. The shoes are ranging from 58euro for ballet pumps to 200euro for boots! Jimmy Choo boots for 200!!!! Now you may understand why im shaking at the knees! The shoes can only be purchased from the largest H&M store in each country, Irelands being Dundrum! There is already talk of mass queues so be prepared and get there early...you have plenty of warning, so write this one in your diary!!! X

I went a little overboard shopping today...originally my plan was to buy some sandles, my dr martens and a pair of high black shoes I fell in love with in Korkeys. My plans well....didnt go to plan!! I came home with NO shoes and 4 bags packed full of clothes!!!
First stop was Urban Outfitters...my new official favourite shop. The clothes there are different to everything else you find in high street stores. Fair enough the prices are higher but the material is good and the stuff will last!!!
Heres some of the stuff I picked up there!!

Fell head over heals for this when i tried it on...
I needed items that I could dress up or down and this fit the bill perfectly!! Its much nicer in real life than in this pic and I love the way it has a vintage feel to it!

JEGGINGS!!! OK so i wouldnt necessarily wear them with a tight t-shirt tucked in...maybe if I lost 10,000000 stone! haha...but they are so comfy and look great under longer t-shirts and summer tops! Warning!...They must be worn like a second skin...they just look terrible baggy!!!

Bodycon is everywhere...if you are as skinny and tall as a super model! However I do love the look so I thought I would adapt it to suit myself and my style a little more!
I bought this bodycon skirt today in Urban Outfitters for 34euro.
It is so versitile as it can be worn with loose or fitted tops, can work for both day and night wear and again like the jeggings above its just soooo damn comfy! The pic here shows the colours as faded and very light grey but in reality the strips are black and the grey is much darker. I love the pattern, its unusual, tribal even! And anybody who knows me knows I love unusual!!!

Also got this blazer today in Bershka (Dundrum shopping centre) for.....36euro!!!!! I love the pin-strip roll up sleves and im imagining this with my jeggings and a pair of sky high shoes!
I get so excited like a little child in a toy store when I find a bargain like this!!!

The rest of the items I purchased included a white summer smock dress (Bershka-25euro), a selection of punk t-shirts (also Bershka-all 15euro), a pair of green shorts (Bershka-15euro)

----I think you get the point here! Bershka is cheap cheap cheap! and the stuff rocks!

I promise once I get my camera working i will get more pics of outfits being worn in real life situations and show how certain trends can be put together to compliment each other...
unfortunatly for the next week (until the time when I sort myself out!) you guys will have to deal with me and just me for a tiny bit longer!! Love you all!!!

All this talk of recessions and cutbacks is getting a little boring for me. Ok I understand that the country is in a bad situation, but nothing like a little retail therepy to put a smile back on your face. The prices are low at the moment and there are bargains to be found!!!
Only last week I was at a party when my friend Leah arrived in a stunning blue dress. The colour was amazingly intense and the cut was brilliant. Later in the evening to my shock she told me she'd just "picked it up" for twenty euro in Dunnes Stores!!!!!!!!! I was shocked!! Totally going into town today to see do I have the same luck battling it out on the rails!
So it has come to pass...recessionary prices are unbelievable, scary even! But you gotta love 'em!!!

Favourite summer dresses...
Floral prints and optical designs couldnt be bigger this season and also loving block colour effects!
This seasons summer designs are very girly and pretty. Delicate materials and beautiful patterns make up most of these designs.

A new store has recently been opened in Dundrum shopping center, Dublin. Sooooo happy about this, you can never go wrong with a lipsy dress!

ASOS.com is great for block colour day and night dresses. These dresses can be extremely flattering if worn correctly and are great at hiding your bad parts and showing off the good. Pick colours which suit yourself and cuts which fall on you properly. For example if you want your stomach to look smaller go for bright colours above your waist to drag attention to your chest and never wear horizontal bands of colour around the area you wish to hide!!

WOWEEE!!! Found this site the other day! Dresses.ie! Dont know how i never saw it before but its an Irish site selling items "as seen on stars"! The picture on the left is just an example of some really cool stuff I found on their page.

Just a small warning to all you fashionistas who like to shop online. Always check material and quality before paying for items that youve never actually seen! Nothing worse then waiting eagerly for a new piece of clothing to arrive only to find out it looks cheap and probably wasnt worth what you payed for it!! :D

Make a Statement!...

For the past few months "statement" jewellery, especially necklaces have been on every fashionistas must have list! Stunning rocks and beads making more of a statement then the outfit they are worn with.
Personally I have never been a big "expensive" jewellery person, thats not to say I dont own some very nice things, but my tendency to lose anything that contains any value is unfortunatly enough to keep me from blowing full pay checks on real diamonds and small expensive chains.
However I am known for my cheap and cheerful bling. Big pearl like beading and colourful wooden bangles are me all the way. This is why I like statement jewelery so much. It doesnt have to be expensive, just big, bold and beautiful!
The necklace in the image above is a Vera Wang design as seen in British Vogue. The right hand image is A Dries Van Noten piece and can also be seen on the pages of Vogue.

However as this is a fashion trend and time will eventually move on, I personally wouldnt be handing over huge amount of money for these amazing necklaces. Trends come and go and while these are "in" at the moment, in five years time you may realise that you did not make a good investment. High street stores do great versions of these trends without burning a hole through your pocket!

Shoes are well.........amazing :)
My shoe collection is large and brightly coloured and still I cant help wanting more!!!
My must haves this summer are a pair of gladiator sandles and I really want a pair of ultra chunky shoes, perfect for all the summer dresses im planning on wearing with them.
Strappy high shoes can look delicate and stunning, however they have never been my style. Maybe its the shivers i get when i think about ugly feet or maybe its the fact that they can be the cause of peoples feet looking all curled up...ew...but whatever the reason, lucky for me, this season is all about thick straps and massive platforms...
....LOVIN' IT!!

These stunners can be found in topshop at the moment. Best thing is
they almost look comfortable. I would have a hard time defining these from any of the leading designer shoe brands and under 80euro you just cant go wrong!!!

Love these rich brown sandles availables from red herring which you can find in Debenhams. They retail for 25 sterling, but can of course be purchased in Ireland!

These Alexander Wang beauties are available from his summer 2009 collection. If your going to splash out...well these are worth every penny in my opinion. Now im going to have to start counting my change...may take a few years! wish me luck!!

Why not add a spash of colour to your wardrobe with these ulta cool turquise studded gladiator sandles. Available from urban outfitters these are a little higher in price than most high-street stores. However, I cant see these sandles going out of fashion for the next few summers and they are the type of shoe you can wear daily with all outfits.

Irish weather blows! Its hard enough to pick the perfect outfit, and then right on schedule it rains as soon as you walk out the door in your little cotton dress and strappy sandles!

Although there is a few must haves this summer that im desperatly saving for!

I really want a pair of vintage levi shorts, I love the high waists! They are available on ebay.ie and you can pick them up so cheap!!

My next mission is a pair of dock martins! Call me old school, but they can be matched so well with anything from a short floral summer dress to some faded skinny jeans and an oversized jumper...I love the tom-boyish feel they bring to an outfit. :) I want to get them in white...
